US unemployment rate unexpectedly improves to 13.3%

The US unemployment rate fell to 13.3% in May, from 14.7% in April, amid the creation of 2.51m jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The market had been expecting worse figures of 19.4% unemployment, with 7.75m jobs lost.
