JPMorgan Global Emerging Markets Income Trust beat its benchmark, as the fund selected winning stocks amid a favourable backdrop for emerging markets.

For the year ended July, the fund’s reported total return on net assets was 11.9%, bearing benchmark, the MSCI Emerging Markets Index with returns of 4.8%.

The company attributed the beat to 'judicious' stock picking contributing positively to returns over the year.

Looking ahead, the company said slowing economies, ongoing trade tensions between the US and China regarding goods tariffs and the uncertainties surrounding Brexit were amongst the issues which may result in further market volatility in the near term.
