Mass spectrometry instrument provider Microsaic Systems posted a first-half loss after a rise in sales was offset by expenses including R&D costs.

Pre-tax losses for the six months through June amounted to £1.59m, compared to losses of £1.50m on-year.

Revenue rose 30% to £0.33m and cash at 30 June was £4.1m.

'We are encouraged with the progress made in the first half of the year, including revenues ahead of the same period last year and with instrument orders received for shipment in 2019 almost equal to the total number of orders received during 2018,' chief executive Glenn Tracey said.
