Brighton Pier's profits jumped from £2.3m to £2.7m despite the London to Brighton mainline seeing upgrades and closures over weekends and half term periods throughout most of the 2019 financial year.

Revenue rose slightly from £31.4m to £32.0m with the group continuing to evaluate and dispose of less profitable businesses.

The outlook for the current year will benefit from the completion of the railway upgrades on the London mainline route to Brighton, as well as the good weather on the August bank holiday weekend, which both contributed to the Pier achieving a record week and meeting expectations for the summer.
