The UK consumer price index fell to 1.9% in May, down from 2.0% in April, according to the Office for National Statistics.
The market had been expecting the CPI rate to stay steady.
The producer price index fell to zero, below expectations for a 0.2% reading.
The retail price index rose to 3.0%, above expectations of 2.9%.
