UK services PMI rises to 51.0 in May

The UK services purchasing managers' index rose to 51.0 in May, up from 50.4 in April, according to IHS Markit.

The market had been expecting a more modest rise to 50.6.

'The latest reading signalled a marginal rise in service sector output, with the rate of expansion the strongest since February,' IHS Markit said.
