UK construction PMI falls unexpectedly in May to 48.6

The UK construction purchasing managers' index fell to 48.6 in May, down from 50.5 in April, according to IHS Markit.

The market had been expecting a slight rise to 50.6.

The latest reading was the lowest since a snow-related downturn in construction output during March 2018, IHS Market said.
