Caledonia Mining Corp PLC - Zimbabwe-focused gold miner - Says an employee lost his life in an accident at its Blanket Mine in Zimbabwe. Caledonia says the accident took place on Monday and was related to secondary blasting. The company says it will conduct a ‘thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident’ and will release further details only after the outcome of an enquiry into the accident by local authorities.
Caledonia has suffered a series of worker deaths at the Blanket Mine, reporting fatalities in September last year, in February and August 2023, and in February 2022.
