Hochschild Mining PLC - London-based gold and silver miner in Argentina, Brazil and Peru - Names Cassio Diedrich as its new chief operating officer with effect from Monday this week. Diedrich was formerly global head of mining & technical services at Vale SA’s Base Metals business, and was most recently Kinterra Capital Corp’s global head of strategy & portfolio companies, which followed his role as head of business planning and mining at Glencore PLC. Diedrich is also a Brazilian national, Hochschild notes, ‘whose local expertise will be invaluable, with Brazil being a key market for Hochschild as it completes an operational reorganisation of its Mara Rosa mine and continues to progress Monte Do Carmo, a gold project in the next-door state to Mara Rosa’. Diedrich’s appointment follows the company’s recent naming of Ediney Drummond as country manager for Brazil, as Hochschild revamps its senior management team and implements a new governance structure.
