Ireland’s annual consumer price index inflation cooled in July while unemployment increased, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday.
The country’s annual consumer price inflation rate eased to 1.7% in July from 1.8% in June.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.1% in July from June. They had advanced 0.5% in June from May.
On a harmonised level, allowing for EU-wide comparison, Ireland’s annual consumer price inflation rate remained unchanged at 1.6% in July.
The monthly price growth eased to 0.2% in July from 0.5% in June.
Separately, CSO reported that Ireland’s unemployment rate increased to 4.9% in July from 4.6% in June.
The unemployment rate for females rose to 4.7% in July from 4.3% in June, while the rate for males increased to 5.0% in July from 4.8% in June.
The youth unemployment rate, for those aged between 15 and 24, increased to 12.2% in July from 11.3% in June.
