Stavanger, Norway-based energy firm Equinor ASA said Thursday it had signed a 10-year contract to supply Windsor, England-based firm Centrica PLC with around five billion cubic meters of natural gas per year in a deal worth around $27 billion at current prices.
‘This agreement will continue to support the UK’s energy security with reliable gas supplies from the Norwegian continental shelf,’ Equinor chief executive Anders Opedal said in a statement.
Equinor shares were 1.4% higher in pre-market trading at $24.37 each on Thursday in New York, while Centrica shares were up 0.1% at 161.90 pence each in London.
