Synectics PLC on Monday said its systems integration business Ocular Integration has won a £1.1 million contract with bus operator Stagecoach Group Ltd.
The Sheffield, England-based provider of advanced security and surveillance systems solutions said Perth, Scotland-based Stagecoach will pilot its new on-board hub solution, designed to improve fleet efficiency.
Synectics said it expects the pilot scheme to be completed within a year, and for the solution to be deployed more widely.
Synectics said the on-board hub runs multiple third-party applications at the same time and integrates functionality, including automatic vehicle location, CCTV feeds, safety sensors and real-time passenger information.
The new technology simplifies the deployment of on-board surveillance technology, Synectics said.
Chief Executive and Financial Officer Amanda Larnder said: ‘The contract not only recognises Ocular’s long-standing experience in the transport sector but also demonstrates Ocular’s expertise in understanding and responding to customers’ individual needs by developing an on-vehicle surveillance solution that responds to their unique requirements.’
Shares in Synectics were up 1.8% to 333.50 pence in London on Monday afternoon.
