M&C Saatchi PLC - London-based advertising agency - Non-Executive Chair Zillah Byng-Thorne will leave the board at the annual general meeting on May 15, having served just under two years. Byng-Thorne was the chief executive officer of magazine publisher Future PLC before leaving that post at the end of March 2023 and taking the M&C Saatchi chair on June 15 that year. Only a month later, she became executive chair due to the departure of the M&C Saatchi’s CEO, before reverting back to non-executive chair in February last year. M&C Saatchi on Friday says Byng-Thorne is leaving ‘due to other executive and non-executive commitments and increased regulatory responsibilities’.

Senior Independent Director Heather Rabbatts, who joined the M&C Saatchi board in January last year, will become chair. Non-Executive Director Georgina Harvey will become interim senior independent director. Rabbatts says of Byng-Thorne: ‘Having joined the company at a crossroads, her enthusiasm and experience has been the driving force behind M&C Saatchi’s transformation strategy which was initiated during her time as executive chair.’
