Retail sales in Ireland decreased in October, numbers on Tuesday showed, with clothing and department store sales both suffering hefty yearly declines.
According to the Central Statistics Office, retail sales volumes in Ireland fell 0.4% in October from September.
The CSO said furniture & lighting sales were 3.5% lower, with in motor trades, they declined 1.1%. Excluding motor trades, retail sales fell 0.6% in October from September.
On-year, retail sales volumes declined 0.2% last month. In department stores, sales fell 10% while in clothing, footwear & textiles they declined 7.5%.
