Severn Trent PLC’s acquisition of Andigestion Ltd is being looked at by the UK Competition & Markets Authority to see whether it would lessen competition.

In February, water utility Severn Trent had announced its green power unit’s acquisition of Andigestion, which operates two food waste anaerobic digestion plants in southwest England. It disclosed no financial details.

It said it expected the purchase to add another 45 gigawatt hours per year to its energy generation.

‘To assist it with this assessment, the CMA invites comments on the transaction from any interested party,’ the regulator said.

Severn Trent shares were 0.9% higher at 2,727.00 pence each on Monday morning in London.
