(Alliance News) - US private equity firm Sycamore Partners is mulling a takeover approach for London-listed fashion retailer Ted Baker PLC, Sky News reported on Friday.

Sky said it has learnt that New York-based Sycamore is working with advisers to examine a possible offer, and one source said the buyout firm was considering making a formal approach to the Ted Baker board.

However, a source also said it was possible Sycamore will not decide to make a formal approach, or that public disclose of its interest could prompt it to walk away.
