Ireland retail sales staged a recovery in January, figures from the country's Central Statistics Office showed on Monday.
On an annual basis, the retail sales index jumped 19% in January, reversing a 2.2% decline in December.
The CSO said number of sectors showed a large annual increase in the volume of sales, compared with January 2021 when a full lockdown of non-essential retail and services was in force. Retail remained open throughout the month of January 2022, compared to January of the previous year when only essential retail was permitted to operate.
Retail sales fell 1.5% in January month-on-month, easing from a 3.2% fall in December.
